Important Information about your Tax Receipt
Dear Friends,
As federal income tax time approaches, many have asked about the receipts for your contributions to the Barbara Hall Campaign. First, let me clarify that the rebate for your contribution to a municipal campaign comes directly from the City of Toronto and is unrelated to your federal/provincial tax return.
Receipts for Campaign contributions will be mailed to you by the end of March.
To receive a rebate, contributors must complete the rebate application that is on the reverse side of the receipt and return it to the Clerk of the City of Toronto.
You can file this rebate application immediately, and should normally file it by the end of July, but as Barbara's campaign is still working off some debts, you will have 6 months to do so.
The City will mail the rebate cheque directly to you. Full details will come with your receipt.
Last year's civic election campaign has been called "the most dynamic mayoral race in 25 years". Yet, even though Barbara ran a spirited campaign that had many generous contributors, Barbara and her husband Max Beck have ended up with a significant campaign debt.
Many people across the city, including Mayor David Miller, John Tory, the Honourable George Smitherman and the Honourable Bob Rae came together to help with our successful 'Courthouse Fundraiser'. Many thanks to everyone who attended and sent in your donations to help retire the debt over the past weeks.
Thank you for your continued support.
